And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:15)
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn
yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. (Ezekiel 18:30)
And they went out, and preached that men should repent. (Mark 6:12)
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come
from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19)
Jesus wants us to repent
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee
quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. (Revelation 2:5)
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.(Revelation 2:16)
And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them
that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. (Revelation 2:21- 2:22)
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I
will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. (Revelation 3:3)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. (Revelation 3:19)
What does it mean to repent
To make a change for the better as a result of remorse or contrition for one's sins. (The American Heritage®
Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition)
Why do we need to repent
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (I John 1:8)
How to repent
Confess all of your sins to God and ask God for forgivness.
I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the
LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. (Psalms 32:5)
Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly
manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (II Corinthians 7:10 - 7:11)
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Roman
14:11)
To love others we must forgive
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (Matthew 6:14)
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when
he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had
not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be
made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee
all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the
same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on
him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and
besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into
prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came
and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked
servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on
thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he
should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts
forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. (Matthew 18:23 - 18:35)
The unforgivable sin
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the
Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. (Matthew 12:32)
